Last night’s update from Elaine:

“He is aware!!! Today the lad was nodding his head in answers to questions. He is NOT happy about the tube down his throat. In case you haven’t seen his website http:treythecoho.net/ I will tell you what I know. The fluid in is abdomen was negative for infection. There is NO gangrene on his pancreas.. It is still bad off however. Surgery is still indicated. It will just be later when they get him off the vent. Could be weeks before they do surgery and until then he stays in the ICU. They prescribed a diuretic and the fluid is flying out of him. This hospital has done so much for him in such a short time. I guess I have to shut up about the whiz kid doc’s. They REALLY do know their stuff.”

Not out of the woods entirely, but way better news than we’ve had, eh?
