The latest update

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

It seems a bit strange updating this now that Trey is his old self (mostly), but I thought it would be easier to do this than to tell everyone separately about what is going on.

Since Trey has gotten out of hospital, he’s been slowly recuperating. He seems to be doing very well. He still gets tired and cranky that he can’t do more, but he’s actually doing more than expected. Tuesday he had another scan, and yesterday he found out that he will have surgery sometime within the next couple of months. The waiting game is to determine whether it is one type or another surgery.

I’ll try to update when I know more.

Visit is nice

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Trey is doing very well, but he would especially like to see you all now that he is awake/aware. He could possibly be out within a week, and surgery is still pending depending in what the pancreas does on its own.

He hasn’t been able to go outside yet, but we took a stroll around the 6th floor tonight, which he had already done several times earlier with the rehab person.

He is in much better shape, but he needs his family & friends. So please send him your love, visit, or email the hospital your message.

Moved out of ICU -again

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

While I was up there today, Trey was moved out of ICU to 6th floor, room 625. He is doing much better. He has the feeding tube out (not because he pulled it), and he’s eating/drinking a little. Also, the nurse told us that he’s gonna start getting up more (with help), as he’s been doing it about once or twice a day now. He gets up, sits in a chair for a while, then back to bed. Also, she said I could take him out in a wheelchair to get out of the hospital a bit. The fountain out front is a nice place to sit. So I think he’ll be making a trip out there tomorrow.

Today we talked about what he remembered and didn’t, and I’m glad to say that he doesn’t remember waking up with the vent in, which is great, since I didn’t want him to suffer through that, and he’s trying to be positive, but it’s hard, so please keep up with the thoughts and prayers.

I’m not sure of the surgery situation yet, but I will let you know when I do.

Love to all and Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

Surgery? Back in ICU -Room 285

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Yesterday Elaine told me that they were planning on doing surgery on the pancreas in 2 to 4 weeks to remove the useless tissue. I don’t know any more details than that, but I hope to find out more soon. I’m hoping that this will turn around, or that he will at least be able to drink and eat before then because he is going crazy lying in bed with no food or water.

Currently he is so agitated with being in bed that they are drugging him quite a bit to try and get him to relax. He’s constantly trying to get up, remove his feeding tube (he’s done this 3 times in 3 days), and begging for something to eat and drink. I feel so useless with him being so miserable.

I just got news that he’s back in ICU on the 2nd floor -room 285. Elaine said that Manford left her a message that he continues to pull the feeding tube out, so they moved him up there. I’ll update when I know more.

Ugh! Keep praying!

Love,

Krystal

Moved out of ICU!!!!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I’m late in posting this, but Trey was moved out of ICU yesterday. He’s now on the 6th floor with round the clock care (to make sure he doesn’t do a repeat performance of pulling out tubes like he did on Sunday night). I know he went for a CT scan yesterday, but I’m not sure of the results. I’ve been busy preparing for my mom going out of town, my brother and his family coming into town, and trying to complete my moving out of Cara’s… let’s just say I’ve put thousands of miles on my car over the past 3 weeks.

On Sunday night I did spend several hours with him, and while I couldn’t always tell what he was saying, he is definitely so much better. If anyone knows more current news, please feel free to comment or post. I’m going up there tomorrow and will post more then.

Love to all,

K

Trying to Talk

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

You are not going to believe it, but Trey was taken off the vent today, and he is trying to talk. He asked for orange juice, but he still isn’t allowed any. He’s still agitated and trying to get up, which is normal for anyone. Poor guy!

Most of you know that Trey has been going through a hard time, even before he went to the hospital, and all of this support, love, and prayers will hopefully help him through his recovery. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to everyone for their visits, for their love, for their phone calls, and for the donations. He’s still going to need all our love to get through this.

I’d like to thank Jesse for creating this website, Stacey for adding so much from so far away, and Brent for getting Trey his first iPod. :)

Keep sharing the website !

Hugs & Kisses,
K

I Can Has Cheezburger?

It’s True

No necrosis!! Manford has told me for sure that it was a wrong diagnosis from before, and that it is confirmed that he will not have to have surgery. His left side is still swollen (not as bad), and he has a blood clot in it, but they’re working on that.

Holding his hand today, and having it be a hand that looked like Trey’s hand, made me feel so good. On the other hand, the more aware he becomes the fiestier he gets.  He’s nearly got the respirator out and catheder… so watch out for hell on wheels!

Love to all,

Krystal

Update from Elaine/Kelly

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Taking the liberty of reposting Kelly’s comment to the main thread.  ~stace

Kelly says at 7:27am:  ”Elaine sent us GOOD news today…”

Even better news! The pancreatic specialists at Dallas Presbyterian have decided that Trey’s pancreas may heal itself and surgery may not be needed at all. They also don’t believe that the infection is gangrene.

The fluid that Trey was retaining is leaving by the second. I figure he must have lost about 45 or 50 lbs in the last 36 hours. You can actually tell he has knees!!

He is scheduled for another CT scan, either tomorrow or Monday so Dr’s. Wonderful and Marvelous (and I am serious) will know more.

Hanging on!
Elaine
